Mr. Robert Shirra, ITS Canada’s CEO visited ITS Taiwan with four staff members on June 22. We had provided assistant for arranging a visit with the Taipei City Hall Bus Station and freeway ETC system. We also held the signing ceremony of MOU between the ITS Taiwan and ITS Canada which enhanced further cooperation and communication during the conference.

First, ITS Canada came to Taipei City Hall Bus Station, and they were received by Ms. Lizhu Lin (Deputy Director-General of Taipei City Public Transportation Office), Ms. Shugin Lin (Director of Taipei City Government Department of Transportation Transport Information Section), and Dr. Sally Lai (Secretary General of ITS Taiwan), Mr. Wencui Chen (Assistant Manager of Uni-President Enterprises Corporation (UPEC)), and their colleagues.

After this visit, ITS Canada came to Electronic toll collection system Inspect Center, and they were received by Mr. Ming-Feng Xie (Vice President of Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Co. (FETC)) and visit the toll gantry. 

ITS Canada and ITS Taiwan MOU signing ceremony started at two o’clock in the afternoon. The CEO Mr. Robert Shirra and Dr. Kent K.T. Wand signed the MOU on behalf of ITS Canada and ITS Taiwan, and we also invited Mr. Mu-Fu Wu (Deputy Director General of Taiwan area national freeway bureau and Mr. Allan Edwards (Director of Canadian Trade Office in Taipei as witnesses, The ceremony was completed with the guest who attended the exchanging meeting from both side.

The first session of exchanging meeting stated immediately after the signing ceremony. The theme was the vision of ITS Canada and ITS Taiwan’s and urban traffic control system. It was host by Mr. Bert Lin (Executive Director of ITS Taiwan), we also invited Mr. Mitch Chung (Deputy Commissioner of New Taipei City Department of Transportation) and Ms. Nana Chen (chief of Chief of first unit, Taipei City Government Department of Transportation Transport Information Section) to each present the vision of ITS development vision of Taipei city and New Taipei city. As for Canada, the CEO Mr. Robert Shirra and Mr. Frank Rao, CEO, Innovative Traffic Solutions was invited to be the speakers.

The theme of second session is highway traffic management and ETC electronic toll collection system, and the host was Dr. Song-Cun Peng (Supervisor of ITS Taiwan), Ms. Wen-Yu Lu (Leader of Taiwan area national freeway bureau Department of Traffic Management) and Dr. Y.C. Chang (Deputy Executive President of ITS Taiwan, President of FETC) was speakers represented Taiwan, Canada’s speakers were the former ITS Canada Director, Mr. Joe Lam, and Mr. Simon Foo, CEO. The meetings had overwhelming exchanging response. Special thank for the hospitality the lunch and dinner, which sponsored by FETC and CECI.
